New plushies

So I've been trying to explore making other plushies besides octopuses, so I've been experimenting

I was trying to make a bowl of ramen but it turned into a turtle :)

I also made a rather odd looking squid.....

Sorry!

(Bangs head on table) Sorry I haven't been posting regularly (I don't count once every few months regular)  I've been busy making octopus ninjas

embroidering paper cranes

buying pretty yarn

and generally making crafty stuff in preparing to open my shop. Thanks to all you who are still following and (hopefully) reading this!

P.S do you like my new logo?

Plus baby quilt

This stack of fabrics turned into the baby quilt below. Don't ya just love my post title? I'm getting more and more creative with post titles as I progress further into blogging.

I used part of the pattern from the "I heart patchwork" book. So much easier than having to come up with my own pattern! I tried something different and went with a rounded corner for the binding.

                                            Drumroll! The back......

Vintage Reproduction Quilt

This quilt has been laying dormant for awhile after I shoved it guiltily into the "half done projects" basket a few months ago. (hangs head) I pulled it out recently and decided to finish it. Its based on my great grandmothers quilt we lost in the fire. I really loved that quilt so I wanted to make one that was similar. I used almost all vintage fabrics and the green fabric is almost the same color as my great grandmothers. I decided to hand tie quilt it too.

Happy Valentines day!

I went fabric shopping this past weekend with friends, got a lot of good stuff and may have spread the fabric addiction to one of my best friends. :)  Found this Amy butler print and decided I was going to try to plunge into sewing clothing and make myself a skirt. It wasn't much of a plunge, because all that it took to make this was some elastic and straight sewing. I used this tutorial and seriously anyone can make this, it took me about 30 minutes in all.

Hope you all are having a good Valentines day!!

100th post!

Wow, my 100th post...only took me 2 years. :) Above is a patchwork quilt I made in November. I was very cold at the time and wanted another quilt and fast, so I used 7inch squares.

Here is a scarf/shawl I finished recently using super wash merino. I love super wash merino, if I could only use one yarn for the rest of my life, it would be that. The hat below is also merino.

Also I made this striped intarsia hat complete with pom pom. That was a must.

A Plethora of mushrooms!

So I've been busy making mushroom-y things. Such as some plushies and I framed a mushroom embroidery I made. I've been making the plushies in the expectancy of opening my shop in the near future.

What can I say? I love mushrooms!

I'm back!

I can't believe I last posted in October..wow really? October? Sorry I haven't posted in awhile, it was mostly due to a bad internet connection and forgetfulness/business, but mostly bad internet. Thankfully we are back in our new/old house and the internet is blazing fast! (hallelujah!)  Instead of posting all my projects into one post I'm gonna give it to you bit by bit.

This quilt I made in October for my best friend's birthday. I used the friendship star pattern and she loves blues and greens so I tried to keep it in those colors.

Toroto Embroidery

Embroidery I did from one of my favorite Hayao Miyazaki films :)

New pillows

I found this manga fabric at IKEA. Isn't it cool!  They have fabric panels that look like a manga comic page. I used japanese fabrics along the edges

Finished the hexagon pillow I was making, it is now at home on my window seat

Gen and Aaron's quilt

This is probably the most improv-ish quilt I've made. I had a general idea of what I wanted it to look like, but most of the blocks weren't planned out.

Their names and their wedding date

The back, once again very improv. I had two left over blocks that I decided to incorporate with the embroidery on the back.

Chibi Plushie

I made this octopus plushie mainly for camp, but also just cause I wanted to see if I could make one.  The pattern I made turned out fairly well, I just had to make a few alterations.

His name is Octavius, he loves cookies and hugs :)

Done!!

Yay! It's finally done!  All quilted and washed.

Some of the blocks are a bit wonky but I love it anyway :)

Added a few random blocks on the back. Planning on curling up with this later while watching some Gilmore Girls :)

Snapshot

Just a little snapshot of what I've been working on. I finished some bunting that I hung on my bed.

My ironing corner. :) Trying to finish my spiderweb quilt before I die. (No really it's taking me forever, next time I am doing a patchwork quilt with big squares. Like really big squares)  I'm also working on my sister's wedding quilt. (below) Trying different layouts to see which one I like.

I am praying that I can finish both these quilts before the end of August. (hopefully it won't take me longer than that) >.<

Back to Crafting

Sorry it's been so long since I've posted. Finally got my sewing machine and fabric back and after a big trip to Jo anns I am crafting again. Yay!

Made some hexagons and framed them. Plus I made some plushies, of course mushrooms were in there :)

My house got a bit crispy

In the middle of my gradutation ceremony my parents were told that our house was on fire. No one was in the house when it happened, thank the Lord. But all our stuff wasn't so lucky.  The fire started in the top middle bedroom and its really only the second floor that looked bad.. The rest of of the house looks fine, but there is a lot of water and smoke damage. We are all fine and doing great, we found a beatiful house to rent while our old house is being gutted and rebuilt.

And I know this is supposed to be a blog about crafty stuff, so here is my smokey crafty stuff (now pitched) . My sewing machine and fabric were in another part of the house, so all that is saved. My sewing machine may need to be cleaned (because of the smoke). (wince) I pray it doesn't take that long. My hands are just itching to sew and hand sewing pillow covers really isn't fun.

I won!!

I can't believe it! I won a fabric giveaway!! I won 6 half yards of fabric from Let me sew love   blog. She was so generous to give away that much fabric!  I can't wait to use this in a new project  :D

Doodled chucks

using just sharpies

cupcakes = love

Sorry the pictures are so fuzzy they seem to get worse when I upload them

Quilt blocks

Working on blocks for a new blue/green/grey themed quilt

This stacked block has to be my favorite so far

Another spider web block, hoping to finish this quilt.

Ninjas love ramen

Everyone I showed this to seemed to think the ramen was coffee...(sigh)

Wow, I seem to be stuck on a ninja theme lately

Ninja doodle

doodled this while watching stuff....

I made a Plushie!

Not sure what it is.....or if it's cute or just scary. Going to try again and see what I get.
